My journey to midwifery began in 2013 when I graduated from East Carolina University with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I worked as a labor and delivery nurse in Raleigh, NC for about 5 years where my passion for women’s health care grew. In 2020 my husband and I made the wonderful decision to move to the Crystal Coast. I then had the pleasure of working as a nurse at Carteret Health are for 3 years in Maternal Child Health. When I graduated from East Carolina University with my Master of Science in Nursing Midwifery, it was my dream to provide midwifery care to the women of Carteret County. I am passionate about providing healthcare that is holistic and embodies the physical, mental, and emotional aspect of health. The care I provide is based on respecting my patient’s dignity, recognizing individuality, and embracing diversity. I believe in physiologic birth, shared decision making, and supporting families as they grow. I am thrilled to be working with a collaborative team of incredible physicians and look forward to providing the highest quality of care to the women of Carteret County.
When I am not delivering babies, I love to spend time with my own! I have a wonderful husband and two energetic children. We enjoy sharing time on our boat and exploring everything this beautiful community has to offer.
As a Certified Nurse Midwife, I believe women’s health is a continuous journey of normal physiological changes, including gynecological, pregnancy, and postpartum events. I am passionate about empowering women and their families by providing education and evidence-based care to foster shared decision making. My desire to bring midwifery care to a small, rural community ultimately led me to Carteret OBGYN. I look forward to helping you meet your healthcare goals.
I received my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of NC at Greensboro and Master’s of Science in Nursing from East Carolina University. I am certified through the American College of Nurse Midwives. I have 24 years’ experience as a registered nurse in women’s health including labor/delivery, postpartum, GYN, and newborn care.
Since relocating to the area, I have enjoyed learning about the Crystal Coast. Outside of work, I like to spend time traveling with my husband, children, and two granddaughters. I enjoy gardening and antique shopping as well.
